Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni unveiled the team's new jersey for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, starting on April 9. A video of Dhoni unpacking the jersey and presenting it to fans has gone viral on social media.
The revamped version of the jersey now features a camouflage pattern on the shoulders, as a tribute to the Indian armed forces. "It has been on our mind for some time now to find ways to raise awareness about the significant and selfless role of the armed forces. The camouflage is an appreciation of their service they are the true heroes," CSK CEO KS Viswanathan said. "The new-look jersey features camouflage as a tribute to India's armed forces and three stars atop the much-loved franchise's logo," CSK mentioned in its statement. The new jersey also has three stars above CSK's logo, highlighting the three IPL titles the team has won over the years.
CSK will be playing their first match of IPL 2021 against Delhi Capitals on April 10 in Mumbai. The season will also see the return of the team's much reliable batsman Suresh Raina, who skipped the 13th edition of the tournament over personal reasons.
