KL Rahul is the most consistent batter in IPL since 2018. After missing out on IPL 2017 due to an injury, the star player was bought by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for INR 11 crore. The latest news is that the orange cap holder's stint with the franchise is likely to come to an end.
He was named captain in the 2020 season after putting up a phenomenal performance with the bat. But his 4-year stay at PBKS will likely end and Rahul will be back in the auction pool, according to the latest report by Cricbuzz. Sources hint that the skipper had expressed his wish to be relieved from the team and the management has accepted it.
Cricbuzz report read that a few other franchises have shown interest in him and most likely will go for him in the mega auction. With two new teams coming in the 2022 edition, Rahul has expressed his wish to be in the pool for the mega auction. The BCCI is yet to announce the retention policy and we have to wait to see if the side retains him or the reports come true.
But PBKS might not retain Rahul if he wishes to move on from there though it is one of the struggling franchises in the tournament. The two new IPL teams will be announced on October 25 and the retention policies, RTM cards will be known soon after that. The last time IPL had ten teams was in 2011 when Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala were added to the tournament.
