Tonight's match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders is set to be rescheduled to a later date after KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy and seam bowler Sandeep Warrier tested positive for Covid-19.
An official confirmation is awaited from the franchise as well as the BCCI regarding the postponement of the match. This is the first time since the beginning of the 14th edition of Indian Premier League that a player inside the bio-bubble has tested positive for Covid-19. It has been reported that Varun Chakravarthy left the bio secure environment to get his shoulder scanned and that is where he is believed to have caught the infection.
Varun Chakravarthy's teammate and seam bowler Sandeep Warrier was diagnosed with the infection as well. However, the rest of the tests from the remaining KKR players reportedly came out negative. Having won only two of their seven games in the tournament, the KKR team is placed at the seventh position in the points table.
