The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League is just around the corner, and the excitement of the fans is palpable in social media. Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings are set to take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening day of the season. With a couple of hours to go before the match begins, let us review the stats of the record holders of the highest runs so far.
Chennai Super Kings’ top-order batsman Suresh Raina tops the chart with merely 15 runs away from touching the 5000-run mark. With 4948 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Virat Kohli holds the second position and is just 37 runs away from topping the list, while Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma is a bit far off with 4493 runs in the third spot. Rohit is followed by Gautam Gambhir in the fourth place and Robin Uthappa in the fifth place with 4217 and 4086 runs respectively.
The most interesting fact observed here is that all the top five run-getters of the league belong to the Indian team. We’ll have to wait a couple more months to find out if the Indians will claim the top five spots by the end of the season, and also witness the competition for the top spot between Raina and Kohli, or maybe a third player too.
