'Vivaha Bhojanambu' will start streaming on SonyLIV from August 27. In this interview, producer-actor Sundeep Kishan talks about the movie, what made him go for it and more.
Excerpts:
The name of my character in the film is Nellore Prabha. I like getting into the skin of a native character; your body language and slang have to be changed to suit it. I enjoy doing it.
A week after the movie went on the floors, I really fell in love with the way the entire unit was getting along like a family. I was not supposed to play the character in 'Vivaha Bhojanambu'. It was an afterthought to cast me as an ambulance driver who transports patients/bodies between borders during the coronavirus-induced lockdown.
There is not a single vulgar word or line in 'Vivaha Bhojanambu'. The very title is borrowed from my chain of restaurants. Just like my restaurants, the film, too, is something the whole family can watch and enjoy. Director Ram Abbaraju has done a phenomenal job.
Satya's performance is extraordinary. It was a tricky choice to pick him. When the story was narrated to me, we wanted to cast a proper hero. But since the character needs someone with superb comic timing, we wanted to cast someone like Satya. He is someone who can emote a lot with small facial movements.
The release date of a movie that has been sold to an OTT platform is not in the producer's hands. At best, the producer can make a request to the platform to adjust the release date. The same goes for projects commissioned by streaming platforms.
These days, subscribers are subscribing to almost all OTT platforms. They want to watch OTT content. It will be great if our movie becomes a significant outing for SonyLIV.
