There are movies that audiences and critics don't agree with unanimously. However, 'Mad Max: Fury Road' doesn't suffer that fate since it has been been acclaimed universally by both alike. The film has lapped up a massive fan following ever since it released in May this year.
'Mad Max: Fury Road' was a long-awaited film after director George Miller's 'Mad Max' trilogy. The film came out with not too much expectations, but has turned out to be a massive fan favorite.
And, there's no stopping the success of the film as International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci) has chosen 'Mad Max: Fury Road' as the best film of the year.
The critics voted in favor of George Miller over three other finalists - Laszlo Nemes` 'Son Of Saul', Hou Hsiao-hsien`s 'The Assassin' and Jafar Panahi`s 'Taxi' - for the best film honor.
A total of 493 international film critics decided the 2015 Fipresci best film award after watching the film after their premiere on July 1, 2014.
When asked, Miller said, 'You could have knocked me over with a feather. It`s lovely to have this great cohort of critics acknowledge our collective labors in this way.'
'Mad Max: Fury Road' has now grossed $153M in North America and $221.1M in the international markets against a budget of $150 million as of 30 August 2015.
