Superstar Rajnikanth who had started the year with the Pongal release Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj will be seen next in AR Murugadoss directed Darbar. This movie which has Rajnikanth paired with Nayanthara is produced by Lyca Productions and will release on Pongal 2020.

Even before the release of Darbar, the announcement on Rajnikanth's next movie, Thalaivar 168 was made, and it was revealed that this movie will be directed by Siva, who had impressed Superstar with his last release Viswasam starring Thala Ajith which released with Petta.

While Siva has been known for his titles Veeram, Vedhalam, Vivegam and Viswasam, it has been speculated that this title sentiment will continue with Rajnikanth's movie as well and that the movie might be titled as Viyoogam. While an official clarification is awaited, it has also been said that Keerthy Suresh and Soori are a part of this movie.
