Prime Minister Narendra Modi is soon going to visit Telangana. Ahead of the PM's visit, 64 intellectuals from various walks of life have penned a letter slamming the Centre and BJP.
The letter, addressed directly to Modi, says that Telangana has got a raw deal since 2014. It says, "Twenty-two software parks have come about in the country but not even one of them has been allotted to Telangana. 157 medical colleges, 16 IIMs, 87 Navodaya schools, IITs and more have come up in the country. But Telangana has never been allotted even a single one of them."
The letter accuses the BJP-led government of promoting communal discord and caste-based divisions in the country.
The letter makes 8 specific demands:
1. All promises made to Telangana in the bifurcation law must be implemented.
2. ITIR has to be revived. If not, an equivalent has to be given to Telangana.
3. Software technology parks must be allotted to the State.
4. Medical colleges, Navodaya schools and IIITs must be given to the State.
5. Procurement of crops from Telangana must be done without discrimination.
6. All forms of discrimination against Telangana must be ended forthwith.
7. The rule should not promote communal discord. National unity must be promoted.
8. Decisions that strengthen the country's economy must be taken.
