Inkosari Review

Inkosari, released after a delay of over a month, finally hits the screen on the day another youthful flick Yemaya Chesave hit the marquee.  Directed by Suman Pathuri and produced by Kalyan Palla, it blends fun with tacky seriousness and fares average.  For all the promise it held prior to the release, it falls short on delivering the goods.  However, it is enjoyable and feel-good, and throws up some soothing moments.

The cast, lead six - Raja, Vennela Kishore, Manjari, Richa, Ravi Verma and Sandeep, carry the film on their shoulders, with a commitment and conviction, which becomes the biggest advantage of Inkosari.  The story is simple: six old college buddies, in the thick of their lives, decide to get together for an enjoyable holiday season.  The vacation is planned by Ajay (Raja), who cajoles the rest to fall in line.  The curtain is raised for a big bash, involving the lovable six-some, including Shruthi (Manjari), Bala Bokkala (Kishore), Deepa (Richa), Vicky (Sandeep) and Sudhakar (Ravi Verma), who just put off the baggage of their lives, to make time for a vacation of a life time.  Remember, seven years after their college lives have ended.

Now on, Inkosari lives true to the spirit of its subject - showing some best moments of bonhomie and camaraderie between the friends, in a feel-good manner.  As the friends warm up to each other, a sense of deja vu haunts them, even as the idea of romanticism creeps into their relationship.  As each day passes by, the chemistry sparkles and cackles.  The film throws up some good comedy in the first half.

What the director could have best avoided is infusing some poor sentimentality in the proceedings.  Here, some weak ideas like that of taking on a professor who had inflicted physical pain on a character or others would have been substituted with better ideas.  The writer would have done well to script such scenes which help the characters evolve after each encounter and experience.

Having said that, even the dialogue (Nagaraju Gandham) and screenplay (Raj, DK) should have been more intelligent.  In a film like this meant to make an impact on the audience's heart, soft emotions and music play a vital role.  The absence of subtlety in the drama and quality music act as the biggest impediments in helping the viewer connect with the story.

It's good that we do not see characters with a vile or a bad mind, and the feel gets better.  But, instead of ordinary skirmishes and all, the writer-director duo would have done greater justice to the story to impregnate it with moments that help the characters to ultimately deal with their lives after they get back to the daily humdrum.

All in all, Inkosari is watchable once.  The good performances put in by the lead cast (especially Kishore and Raja), the light humour and the feel-good factor pep the appeal of this youthful flick.
