Ulan-Ude, a city located in Russia witnessed a tragic incident in which a bouncy castle began to fly through the air, grievously injuring the children who were playing on it. The inflatable structure was located near a shopping mall. CCTV footage shows it flying through the air and landing on a busy road as people tried to chase after it.

Five children aged between 3 and 7 years who were on the castle were hurled on the pavement. 2 of them landed under the castle itself. Three ambulance teams rushed the children to hospitals. All of them suffered head injuries, including skull fractures. 4 of them are in induced comas. Parents who suffered from shock were also attended to.

The Investigative Committee found that the structure was not properly fastened to the ground. It was attached to weights made of car tyres and cement. The ropes were found to be broken. A search for the castle owner is ongoing and an investigation of negligence is underway. The owner fled the scene when he saw the structure take flight. Weather forecasts are being checked for strong winds and double checks on theme parks to prevent such incidents are being carried out.
