With Indo-China relations deteriorating vastly for the first time in decades, large sections of Indians have called for a boycott of Chinese goods. Media reports say that parts of Gujarat have seen the anti-China sentiment manifest itself as protests.
As per a PTI report, several men and women took to the streets in cities such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat to vent their ire. They set fire to the Chinese flag and photos of Chinese President Xi Jinping. "In Surat, residents of a housing society unanimously decided to boycott Chinese products and also broke a China-made LCD TV in front of media persons to express their protest against the neighbouring country," reports the news agency.
While their patriotism is understandable, it's also true that it's practically impossible to boycott everything related to China right away. Even the ingredients used in our medicines are procured from China. "Everything said, the sentiment is running high against China, with 20 heroes of the Indian Army losing their precious lives fighting the enemies along the Line Of Actual Control earlier this week. There is a lot of mocking going on by fellow Indians. This is depraved mentality," a Twitter user says.
These brave uncles engaging a Chinese TV set in battle will also have to stop using electricity, drinking milk & taking medicines.
