Steven Spielberg the most celebrated filmmaker in history tasted his first franchise success with the 'Indiana Jones' films that have spawned three sequels over the past four decades. The characters were created by George Lucas and the title role played by Harrison Ford with Sean Connery appearing as his dad in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.
'Indiana Jones 5' has been in development for many years and in 2016 it was announced by Disney that Ford and Spielberg would return and the release date was fixed as July 19th, 2019. But due to scheduling conflicts and script issues it was delayed but will finally go on floors this year but with a major change.
Spielberg has decided to step down from 'Indy 5' as its fondly called by him and the fans and Variety has reported that 'Ford vs Ferrari' famed Academy Awards nominated helmer James Mangold is in talks to take over the reins. Spielberg will serve as producer with filming set to happen in April 2020 with July 9th 2021 as the possible release date.
