20 year old Delhi University girl, Gurmehar Kaur has been at the centre of controversy, after opposing the student organization ABVP. The girl's want for peace has been seen as a 'political agenda' and 'anti-national' voice. Politicians and famous celebrities including Indian cricketer Virendar Sehwag resorted to social media trolling of the Martyr's daughter.

Joining the detractors of Gurmehar are two of India's finest women athletes. Wrestlers Geeta Phogat, and her younger sister, Babita Phogat have opined that the DU girl's statements are 'against the nation and martyrs'.

Despite being the women to win medals for India at the Commonwealth Games, its a fact that the wrestling siblings were introduced to bigger fame after Aamir Khan's 'Dangal'. As disappointing as it sounds, a young girl's irreparable loss and crave for peace shouldn't be misconstrued as 'anti-national' by International champions themselves.
