During India’s second T20I against Sri Lanka at Dharamshala, young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan was struck on the head by a bouncer bowled by Sri Lankan cricketer Lahiru Kumara in the fourth over of India’s innings.
Ishan Kishan continued to play despite the injury, but lost his wicket not much later. He was then admitted to the ICU ward of Fortis Hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh for some important scans and was later shifted to the normal ward for a CT scan as a precautionary measure, as per reports. “Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan is under medical examination after getting hit on the head during India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I. Sri Lanka player Dinesh Chandimal was also taken to hospital as part of precautionary measures after an injury,” the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association was quoted as saying.
A statement by the BCCI also revealed that the reports have come out normal and that they will continue to assess the 23-year-old for signs of concussion. “The findings of the CT scan are normal. The BCCI Medical Team will continue to closely monitor his signs of concussion,” the board’s statement read. Ishan Kishan will be playing for Mumbai Indians in the 15th edition of IPL.
