Former Minister and Member of Parliament of Kerala's Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency E.Ahmed has passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was a senior member of Indian Union Muslim League. . The 78 year old MP collapsed while while the President was addressing both the houses of the Parliament on Tuesday ahead of the Budget to be tabled today. He was immediately rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital near the Parliament complex located in New Delhi. Doctor's detected that he has suffered a cardiac arrest and shifted him to the ICU. Failing to respond to the treatment, the senior politician from Kannur of Kerala, passed away at around 2:15 AM today (February 1, 2017). The mortal remains has been taken to the AIIMs hospital for embalming (method to preserve the body from decaying) as the facility is not available in RML hospital.
Ahmed has served as the Minister of State for External Affairs during the UPA Government's tenure lead by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He was also a former President of IUML.
The departed Mp is survived by wife Zuhara Ahmed, two sons and a daughter.
