Palash Taneja, 19, is in the news for winning Apple's Swift Student Challenge award for the year 2020. The Delhi-based student has been recognized for his useful creation of a Swift Playground to benefit people in the times of Covid-19.
As per NDTV Gadgets, the digital creation "teaches coding while simulating how a pandemic moves through a population". What is its major application in the real world? "It shows how precautions such as social distancing and masks can help slow infection rates," the report adds.
The student of University of Texas was afflicated with dengue in the past. Battling the disesase reportedly prodded him to seek solutions in programming. So, he concocted a "Web-based tool that uses machine learning to predict how mosquito-borne diseases like dengue fever would spread".
