With growing concern over the novel coronavirus that has infected and caused the deaths of thousands of people across the world, people have been anxious for quite a while now. Several celebrities have addressed the issue, mentioning that safety precautions needed to be followed by everyone in order to contain the spread.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli recently opened up on the issue, urging the world to be vigilant in the fight against the virus. His post read, "Let's stay strong and fight the #COVID19 outbreak by taking all precautionary measures. Stay safe, be vigilant and most importantly remember, prevention is better than cure. Please take care everyone." The virus outbreak has caused the cancellation of India's on-going tour of South Africa. The IPL 2020 matches, that were scheduled to begin on March 29, have been postponed to mid-April. An official update on the fate of the tournament is awaited.
The novel coronavirus, now officially called COVID-19, has claimed the lives of more than 5500 people and infected over 149000 people across the world. The virus was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, in China. As the death toll and overall cases began rising rapidly across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency and the outbreak has been labelled a pandemic.
