New deportation norms are coming into force in the US from Oct 1. In what may be called a good news for the Indian expat community, H-1B visa holder will not be covered tentatively under the new policy. Employment-based petitions and humanitarian applications and petitions will be exempted from the new deportation policy.
The above decision has been taken by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the agency tasked with granting visa or its extension to non-immigrants.
Observers feel that H-1B visa holders, whose extension applications have been denied in recent months, have a respite because of this decision. Many of them are Indian nationals.
