Today is the birthday of Shankar who is hailed as the Superstar among directors.

Apart from the films he has directed, the most striking contribution of Shankar as a creator is that through his thinking process and execution strength, he redefined the meaning of grandeur in films and took forward the industry as a forerunner to great levels in terms of budget and grandeur.

Shankar is a director who has caught the admiration of all centers and age groups of audience. Most of his films have dealt with social issues in a hard-hitting manner but none of them have lacked the entertainment value. Shankar is the pioneer of writing scripts and making films that have the equal measure of social messages and entertainment.

Shankar has worked with many stalwarts of the film industry and his films have been milestones in their respective careers. Kamal Haasan won his third National award for his performance as an aged freedom fighter in Shankar's third directorial 'Indian'. Superstar Rajinikanth has had two blockbusters with Shankar out of which one is 'Sivaji' a commercial potboiler and the other is the ambitious sci-fi flick 'Enthiran'. The Superstar and Shankar are now working together for '2.0' the sequel to 'Enthiran' which is billed as the costliest Tamil film ever.

'Anniyan' and ;'I' directed by Shankar turned out to be important turning points in the career of National award winning actor Vikram and his out of the world performance in these two films made people feel that he was the right choice for the National awards for their respective years of release, though he did not get them in both the instances.

In 'Nanban' the Tamil remake of Bollywood blockbuster '3 Idiots' Tamil film buffs could witness an all new Vijay who did not utter punch dialogue and involved in daredevil stunt sequences but still managed to impress everyone, even those who are not his fans.

Shankar's debut film 'Gentleman' that dealt with the corruption in Education system is still considered as one of the best Tamil films in that genre and gets tremendous viewership whenever it is screened in Television even today. 'Mudhalvan' which was also produced by Shankar on a grand scale is still considered as his best product by most of his fans and film buffs call it as one of the best political films in Tamil.

We can be assured that his upcoming film '2.0' will set new standards for Indian films in production as well as creative quality and also achieve new big levels in Box office collections.

Be it a stalwart or a newcomer, working in a Shankar film has been a dream for everyone in the film industry. Because that will be the landmark film in their respective career. That has made him a superstar among directors and a film directed by him with new faces will get the opening of a film starring a big commercial star. The world witnessed this in the case of 'Boys' that released in 2003.

Shankar has also produced some great films like 'Kadhal', 'Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi', 'Veyyil' and 'Eeram' and will continue to do so in the coming years.

On this auspicious day. IndiaGlitz wishes a Happy Birthday to Shankar and prays the God to keep him in good health and happiness forever.
