Indian Man in US Kills Family, Commits Suicide

An Indian IT professional in the US killed his wife and sons before committing suicide in his house in Iowa. The bodies of Lavanya Sunkara, Chandrasekhar Sunkara, and their sons, two boys aged 15 and 10 years were found with gunshot wounds on Saturday morning. Relatives staying with them called the police with the help of a passerby. The police said: “The manners of death for Lavanya Sunkara and the two boys are homicide. The manner of death for Chandrasekhar Sunkara is suicide. The State Medical Examiner's Office has determined the causes of death for all four family members to be gunshot wounds.”
The police added: “Officials are working with surviving family members to provide support. Investigators are continuing to review evidence and conduct interviews.” Chandrasekhar Sunkara was employed at the Iowa Department of Public Safety's Technology Service Bureau and Lavanya Sunkara was a software engineer. Shrikar Somayajula who has known the family for more than 10 years reported: “You don't see something like this happen in the Indian community, let alone a heinous act like this. The family was a very friendly family and so it is really painful. We have more questions than answers now as to why this happened and we will probably never find out why this happened.”
