Indian govt to punish Pakistan by diverting Indus water

The Indus water river-sharing has been one of the potentially contentious issues between India and Pakistan. With the Indo-Pak relations getting blighted in recent weeks, the Centre seems to be mooting steps to punish Pakistan by diverting the flow of Indus water so that Pakistan doesn't get away with inequitable benefits forever.
Speaking on the issue, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat today said, "Beyond the Indus Water Treaty, a large part of India's share of water goes to Pakistan. We are working on a priority basis to ensure how our share of water that flows to Pak, can be diverted for use by our farmers, industries and people."
He said that the government is working on hydrological and techno feasibility studies regarding this.
