The football fever has set in our country as well with the FIFA World Cup. But here’s an happy update as well! The Indian national football team has made a giant leap in international rankings. Yes, India has moved up four places upto 96th in the FIFA World Ranking released Thursday.

The last time when the rankings was released on June 1st, India was at the 100th place. Since then, the country has won two matches: one againsat Nepal and another against Kyrgiz Republic. The All India Football Federation president Praful Patel has stated that it is a ‘giant leap of faith for Indian football’.

To understand the improvement, one must think about the ranking we had two years back in March 2015 which was 173rd. So it is a very good improvement 77 places up the list. Germany retains the first spot with Brazil and Argentina retaining the second and the third spotr respectively.
