Indian film stars are shameless: Kangana Ranaut
- IndiaGlitz, [Saturday,June 06 2020]
Appearing on BBC, 'Manikarnika' actress Kangana Ranaut has blasted her Bollywood colleagues for their alleged hypocrisy. The 'Panga' actress made some strong comments over the solidarity expressed by several Bollywood stars with the Black Lives Matter protests in the US.
Most of them, with very few exceptions, endorse all kinds of fairness creams and then decry racism. Racism is deep-rooted here. Commercializing dissent is the lowest you can hit, Kangana remarked. Although much of her criticism had expressly do with Bollywood, the 'Queen' actress was implicitly hitting out at the Indian celebs at large.
The actress said that no Bollywood celeb condemned the lynching to death of two Hindu sadhus in Maharashtra's Palghar just a few weeks ago. Black lives surely matter, but what about issues that are happening in India? Hinduism doesn't depend on conversion or conquest to expand its numbers. That's why celebs don't do or say something that makes them look like they are with the majority sentiment, she added.
