Former India cricketer Suresh Raina's father, Trilokchand Raina passed away on Sunday, February 6 after fighting cancer for the last few months. He breathed his last at his residence in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.

Raina's father's health was deteriorating further since December last year and the cricketer made it a point to attend him for the past month. Raina's father was a military officer and belonged to Jammu and Kashmir's Rainawari and had moved to UP in the 1990s. He worked in an ordinance factory manufacturing bombs.

"He looked after the families of soldiers who had died. His was a very emotional work. This was tough, making sure that the money orders went and they received all the government benefits that they were eligible for," Raina had once said in an interview about his father.

After the sudden death of his father yesterday Raina took to his Twitter and posted a picture of him along with a heartbreaking note. He wrote, ' No words can describe the pain of losing a father. Yesterday, on passing away of my father, I also lost my support system, my pillar of strength. He was a true fighter till his last breath. May you rest in peace Papa. You will forever be missed. Raina's former India teammate Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to express his sorrow and paid his condolences saying, "Very sad to hear Suresh Raina’s father @ImRaina RIP uncle."
