Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj, who is in the Indian cricket team for the Test series against Australia, faced a tragedy yesterday after his father Mohammed Ghouse (53), died due to a lung ailment.
Mohammed Siraj got the news of his father’s death when he completed the practice session at Sydney’s Blacktown Oval. Unfortunately Mohammed Siraj will not be able to go to India for the last rites as he is in Australia where coronavirus restrictions are enforced and the Indian squad is currently in a 14-day quarantine period.
Mohammed Siraj said that skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri have given him huge support. Siraj said that his dad's wish was that he must make the country proud and that he'll do it for sure. Expressing his shock, Siraj said that he had lost the biggest support of his life and added that Shastri and captain Virat Kohli told him to be bold and have supported him.
