Do you have attacks of existential crisis when you’re just watching a cricket player endorse a branded extravaganza (that you'll rarely buy) and begin imagining their astronomical salaries for the same. Well, brace yourselves as you read this. The BCCI has decided to give its ‘A +’ grade players a pay hike from Rs.2 crores to Rs.7 crores.
Player under the A+ bracket include Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jaspreet Bumrah. The decision comes after Virat Kohli along with former coach Anil Kumble appealed for a salary rise for players to match international standards.
It is worth noting here that MS Dhoni has missed the top bracket and Mohammed Shami has been excluded. The Supreme Court had appointed a Committee of Administrators (CoA) for BCCI which announced the player contracts from October 2017 to September 2018.
