Indian billionaire Vikas Oberoi and his Bollywood star wife, Gayatri Joshi, are at the center of a probe in Italy following a fatal sports car crash. The couple was participating in a supercar sports rally in Sardinia when tragedy struck. Dashcam footage shows their Lamborghini Huracán attempting to overtake a campervan, closely followed by a red Ferrari Portofino. The Ferrari collided with the Lamborghini, pushing it beneath the campervan, which flipped over. The Ferrari burst into flames, tragically claiming the lives of Swiss couple Melissa Krautli, 63, and Markus Krautli, 67. The occupants of the campervan, hailing from Sud Tyrol, Italy, suffered injuries.
Prosecutors in Sardinia have initiated an investigation into Vikas Oberoi, worth $3.6 billion, for potential "double road homicide." Dashcam videos showing the accident and the overtaking attempts are under scrutiny. Oberoi is the chairman and managing director of Oberoi Realty, a Mumbai-listed luxury property developer. His wife, Gayatri Joshi, is a prominent Bollywood actress.
The couple, who married in 2005 and has two children, escaped the accident unscathed. They stated, "Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here. With God’s grace, we both are absolutely fine." However, Italian authorities are pursuing a thorough investigation, while Oberoi Realty refrains from commenting until the facts are established.
