Our Indian players are having a great time since Sunday at the Tokyo Olympics 2021. On Sunday, PV Sindhu bagged the bronze medal by defeating He Bing Jiao and the Indian women's hockey team made it to the semis by smashing the world's no.2 team Australia.
Everyone expected our Indian athlete to bag a medal in the finals of the Women's Discus Throw to prolong the festive mode. But, the joy of victory took a break from Indian players as Kamalpreet Kaur finishes 6th in the discus final.
Kamalpreet's best throw is 66.59m, she broke the national record with that throw in June. Kamalpreet qualified for the final after throwing 64m, the 2nd best in the qualification round. Experts said a throw of 66m or above gives the athlete a realistic chance for India to bag the medal.
Unfortunately, Kamalpreet Kaur has finished sixth in the women's discus throw final with a best attempt of 63.70. She had a foul in the second throw before rain halted play. She threw 63.70 in her third to avoid getting knocked out after the first three throws. She had another foul in her fourth throw.
Kaur threw another foul in her final attempt to finish sixth as USA's Valarie Allman won the gold medal. USA’s Valarie Allman won the GOLD with a throw of 68.98m while the thrower from Germany bagged the Silver and Perez from Cuba got the bronze medal. Even though she finished 6th, her effort was applauded by the political leaders, celebrities, and all the Indians.
