The shooting of Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2', directed by Shankar and produced by Lyca productions was wrapped up recently. There were expectations that the much awaited sequel to the pan Indian blockbuster film of 1996 will release worldwide on Pongal 2024.

Now sources say that since there is extensive postproduction works involved including the use of de-aging technology 'Indian 2' will now be eyeing August 15th release next year. Since the subject is of a patriotic and social conscience in nature, trade analysts feel that would be an apt release date that could be euphoric for fans.

'Indian 2' stars Kamal Haasan, Samuthirakani, Guru Somasundaram, Kalidas Jayaram, Bobby Simha, SJ Surya, Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, George Marian and Delhi Ganesh among others. Late actors Vivek, Manobala and Marimuthu are also a part of the film and will appear posthomously.

'Indian 2' has music by Anirudh and cinematography by Ravi Varman. production design by T. Muthuraj and editing by A. Sreekha Prasad. The mega film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies.
