'Indian 2', the Kamal Haasan-Shankar film, has landed in a huge controversy. Lyca Productions, the producers of the vigilante drama, has told the Madras High Court that Shankar should be restrained from abandoning the project and taking up some other project before he completes 'Indian 2'. Lyca, which had produced Rajinikanth's '2.0' directed by Shankar, has alleged that the director has moved on to some other project (is it an indirect reference to the Ram Charan film?) after spending Rs 180 Cr on 'Indian 2'. The project was temporarily suspended last February. And then the pandemic struck, leaving the mega-budgeted movie in limbo.

The budget of 'Indian 2' was planned to be Rs 236 Cr. Going by Lyca's submission to the court, almost 80% of the budget has already been spent by Shankar.

Shankar's remuneration for the movie is Rs 40 Cr. As per Lyca, he has already been paid Rs 14 Cr. The production house is willing to deposit the remaining amount with the HC and clear the payment once Shankar completes the film.

The HC has refused to put an interim order restraining Shankar from taking up another project. The court wants to hear Shankar's side of the story.
