On February 19th night a horrifying accident on the sets of 'Indian 2' claimed the lives of three people namely assistant director Krishna, set assistant Chandran and production assistant Madhu. A giant crane lost control and crashed down and the injured are being treated at a private hospital. Kamal Haasan, Shankar and Kajal Aggarwal miraculously escaped though they were only a few feet away from the spot.
Police have registered cases against Lyca Productions, the crane owner, operator, and production managers. Sundaraj the chief production manager of 'Indian 2' has sought anticipatory bail in the Madras High Court. In his petition he has stated that it is not his duty to supervise technical details of a film such as the operation of the cranes etc. Sundaraj has also explained that he was three hundred meters away when the mishap happened to supervise the delivery of food to the crew and since the police are summoning him he has moved bail.
The court has moved the anticipatory case hearing to March 2nd. Kamal, Shankar and Kajal Aggarwal among others have also been summoned by the police for inquiry.
