The Crime Branch police have ordered director Shankar and twenty-three other crew members to appear at the EVP Film City premises at 10 am tomorrow (Wednesday, March 18th) in connection with the accident that killed three persons on February 19th. The Madras High Court has exempted Kamal Haasan from appearing after he filed a petition that was heard urgently this afternoon in which he had alleged harassment by the police.
On February 19th shooting for ‘Indian 2’ was taking place at the EVP Studios with Kamal and Kajal Aggarwal acting in a crucial scene when a giant crane carrying heavy light equipment crashed to the ground suddenly around 9pm killing three persons on the spot. The police have been investigating the case and had summoned those present several times for inquiry and this time it is allegedly to reenact the mishap to which Kamal had objected.
