Here we have listed the highest rated films of the year by our review team and are pleased to see that this year too there is majority concurrence between us, our audiences and the box office.
Kurangu Bommai
'Kurangu Bommai' is the story about people with greed for money and need for money and how this greed and need affects the life of a man and his father who respect human values rather than money. Elango Kuamravel stuns everyone with a spellbinding performance in a negative character probably for the first time in his career in this gripping realistic crime thriller.

Taramani
Director Ram has dealt with a very relevant subject of how men from all classes wrongly perceive women and realize their folly mostly when its too late. The message that Ram sets out to tell is loud and clear and that’s the strength of 'Taramani'. Andrea has got the role of a lifetime as a modern IT girl which she has portrayed with much restrain and intensity, making it very special.

Velaikkaran
With a strong supporting cast, Raja helps their screen presence with gritty dialogues. Almost every single character in the movie has a fitting responsible dialogue, be it Roshini, Nayanthara, Vijay Vasanth, Sneha, Prakash Raj, RJ Balaji and even comedian Sathish has something useful to say. Its safe to say that Siva Karthikeyan is ready and has stepped into a new role, breaking away from a casual youth to a responsible one.

Aramm
Gopi Nainar who became famous after filing a plagiarism case against the blockbuster film 'Kaththi' is finally making his debut with Aramm joining hands with lady superstar Nayanthara as a firebrand district collector taking on the corrupt forces. The film touches many relevant social issues and poses important questions to the powerful but where it wins is by never losing focus on delivering an engaging screenplay which is evidence of the directors tight grip on the medium.

Theeran Adhigaram Ondru
Karthi rocks as Theeran with his fit body and fluid body language aiding him greatly in bringing to life a close to the real character. Coming to the master of the show H.Vinod if his 'Sathuranga Vettai' is one of the most authentic deconstruction of heist and deception crimes 'Theeran' is the same for police procedure. Like how he posts a salute to the true cops who cracked the crimes in real life he deserves one for his painstaking research, authentic narration and plain honest hard work.
