The 4th and final test of the Border Gavaskar trophy ended on a frustrating note for cricket fans, as the match was called off, as rain played spoilsport with the match ending a draw. The Australian opening batsmen Marcus Harris 2(12)* and Usman Khawaja 4(12)* were earlier remaining unbeaten with Aussies on 6/0, being forced to follow on at home for the first time in 30 years and trailing by 316 runs.
With this drawn match, India officially won the test series against Australia 2-1, and India has achieved this feat down-under after 72 long years. The jubilant Indian team was seen hugging each other in the dugout, and Cheteshwar Pujara was awarded the man of the match for his valiant marathon knock of 193(373).
Besides, Pujara was also adjudged player of the series, as he ended the highest run-getter of the series, with 521 runs, at a stunning average of 74. He had scored three impressive, much needed centuries at crucial phases. Pujara revealed that this was the best Indian team he'd been a part of, and the winning captain Virat Kohli, he's never before been this proud of being a part of the team and appreciated Pujara, Mayank Agarwal and the Indian bowlers for their impressive show throughout the series.
