Mohammed Shami faces online abuse after India's loss to Pakistan; Cricketers react

In their first victory against India in a T20 World Cup match, Pakistan defeated the national team by 10 wickets, courtesy of Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan's unbeaten 68 and 79, respectively, and also Shaheen Afridi's three wicket haul in the first innings, restricting the Virat Kohli led Indian team to a total of 151.
While most of the Indian players were criticized by trolls over their performance, bowler Mohammed Shami was at the worst end of the stick as his Instagram page was filled with hundreds of abusive comments, calling him a traitor and asking him to go to Pakistan. Several journalists and a few fellow cricketers have condemned the harassment and assured Shami that they stood by him. Former opening batsman Virender Sehwag wrote on his social media page, "The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and Anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami."
Meanwhile, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan said, "Even I was part of #IndvsPak battles on the field where we have lost but never been told to go to Pakistan! I'm talking about India of few years back. THIS CRAP NEEDS TO STOP." "Online trolls are the ones who earlier used to burn effigies and throw paint-stones at player’s houses…with an online profile without a face worthy of a profile pic," wrote Aakash Chopra.
