The fourth and final test of India's ongoing tour of Australia, held at Sydney had India ending the day 1 on a dominating 303/4, with middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and opener Mayank Agarwal providing India the perfect support needed, as the team began the match missing key players like Rohit Sharma and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
India began dangerously, losing opener KL Rahul 9(6)yet again in a disappointing fashion, as he was dismissed by Hazlewood, but Mayank Agarwal stood firm, and went on to score his second fifty of his maiden test series as he scored a resilient 77(112b, 7x4,2x6), before Lyon scalped his wicket. The dependable Pujara and Mayank had a partnership of 116, and skipper Virat Kohli accompanied Pujara for a while before he scalped by Hazlewood after scoring a patient 23(59).
Rahane followed soon, as Starc struck, and even as wickets fell at the other end, Cheteshwar Pujara went on to reach the magical three-figure mark, as he scored his 18th test century and the 3rd of the series and 5th overall against Australia, and with Hanuma Vihari giving him good company at the other end, India ended day 1 at a well placed 303/4, with Pujara remaining unbeaten on 130(250b,16x4)* and Hanuma Vihari on 39(58b, 5x4)* and Hazlewood being the pick of Aussie bowlers with 2/51.
