Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan bowler, has said that India and Pakistan should play a three-match cricket series at a time when the two countries need funds to fight COVID-19.
In a YouTube video, the Rawalpindi Express (Akthar's sobriquet) opined that the matches should be played without crowds in the stadium. "Only the broadcasting channel's personnel should be let in. The LIVE telecast of the matches is going to generate a huge amount of funds, which can be used by India and Pakistan. There will be no loser. Everybody will be a winner," Akhtar said.
Saying that it will be a "breakthrough moment" for the two countries, Akhtar added that he is aware of the nature of the relationship between India and Pakistan. "I am proposing an out-of-the-box solution," he added.
He said that all players should be tested for COVID-19 prior to the match for safety reasons.
