'Newton', the Hindi-language political satire, has been voted by Film Federation of India as India's official Oscar entry. In all 26 films were considered. Out of these many, only 'Newton' was liked by all the panel members. The panel was headed by our own Telugu film personality, CV Reddy.
In a booster shot for the film, this news comes on the day 'Newton' hits the screens (Sept 22).
Starring Rajkummar Rao as Newton Kumar, who is a presiding officer out to conduct an election in a Chhattisgarh village amid threats from naxal forces, the film has been produced by Drishyam Films. It has been distributed by Eros Entertainment.
Anjali Patil, who was seen in the film 'Naa Bangaru Talli' is part of the cast. It has been directed by Amit Masurkar.
