What happens if the India - New Zealand semi-final match is washed out?

As the Indian team is gearing up for the semi-final match against the 4th placed Kiwis in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 in England, showers are expected on the match day at the Old Trafford, according to a weather forecast. The group stage encounter between India and New Zealand was already washed off, and the Indian fans are worried about the probable outcome of the semi-final match in case of such an event.

If the match is washed out on July 9, Tuesday, it will be played the following day (Wednesday), commonly known as the 'reserve day,' meant for abandoned matches due to wash-outs. Reserve days have been allotted for both the semi-finals and the final match too. However, the weather might not be favorable on Wednesday either, according to the forecast. In case of a wash-out on the reserve day as well, India will be through to the finals as they have finished on top of the table with 15 points, while the Kiwis, placed at #4 with 11 points, will be ruled out of the tournament.

The second semi-final of the tournament will take place on July 11 between England and Australia at Edgbaston.
