India has over the years become one of the leading countries in the field of space exploration. Not only that, the country is also gaining fame and acknowledgement for its cost effective methodologies to achieve the same. 

One of ISRO's (Indian Space research Organisation) upcoming mission is to attempt to land a rover in Moon’s south pole for the very first time. The mission is set to happen this April. The intriguing fact to note here is that the cost of the mission at Rs.800 crore is much lesser than Hollywood’s much celebrated science fiction superhit ‘Interstellar’ directed by Christopher Nolan which cost Rs.1062 crores.

It is also worth mentioning here that the country spent about Rs.470 crore in 2013 for a Mars mission which is still much cheaper than one other Hollywood space movie ‘Gravity’ (budgeted at Rs.644 crore). 

The 'Chandrayaan 2' lunar mission has the pride of being the first ever inter-planetary mission to land a rover on any celestial body. The mission will help collect more information on Lunar topography, mineralogy, elemental abundance, lunar exosphere, signatures of hydroxyl and water-ice as well. 

Sure, Hollywood has amazed its fans with larger than life portrayals of grandeur beyond the earth, especially in its science fiction movies such as the 'Avatar', 'Interstellar' and 'Gravity'. But this feat by our ingenious folks at ISRO is something to admire at!
