A 21-year-old medical student from Kerala, who was India's first Covid-19 patient, has tested positive for the virus yet again, according to the health authorities.

The woman, who has not received either doses of the vaccine, is asymptomatic and is currently quarantined at her home. She had contracted the virus early last year upon her return to India from China's Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak. The 21-year-old, who is doing her medical studies at the Wuhan University, reportedly said, "I took a COVID test before going to Delhi. The antigen test was negative but the RT-PCR came back positive. I only have mild symptoms and am currently under home isolation."

Assuring that her health condition was stable, Thrissur DMO K J Reena said, "There are instances in which people contract the virus for a second time. This can be such a case. We are closely in touch with her and following up on her health condition."
