The crisis in Kerala following the monstrous floods which took lives, posessions has left the state in shock and grief. Rehabilitation and rebuilding is underway with many donations comingin from politicians, celebs and foreign governments as well.

But India has decided to not accept any donation from other countries in order to prove that it is self sufficient in bringing Kerala. Especially so, the Central government has even declined the $100 million help from the United Arab Emirates.

Kerala’s CM Vijayan had already asked the government for Rs.2600 crore. The government has provided with an interim assistance of Rs.680 crores. The government has also communicated to all its embassies around the world that if they are being offered help, they may express appreciation but decline the monetary help.

Even though the rains have calmed down, regions of Ernakulam, Thrissur, Pathanamthitta, Alapuzha, Kollam have not seen a decrease in their water levels. Hope the centre really cater to the needs of the state for a faster recovery.
