The country's COVID-19 count has crossed the 42-lakh mark. On Sunday, the total number of positives came to 90,802. This is the highest figure for any country anywhere in the world since the pandemic began to spread.

The cumulative case tally now stands at 42,04,614. Of these, 8,82,542 are active. On the other hand, 32,50,429 cases are cured/discharged/migrated. This means, active cases are only 20.99%.

In the last 24 hours, 1,016 deaths were reported in India. Cumulative death tally stands at 71,642.

As per Prof. Shamika Ravi's calculation, the case fatality rate across states and UTs stands at 1.72%. This is low compared to several countries. States with CFR higher than the national average are Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Jharkand.

About 32,980 tests per million have been conducted, while the test positivity rate stands at 8.4%

Total number of samples tested up to Sunday stands at 4,95,51,507.
