It is known that India and Australia are going to clash for a T20 cricket match at Hyderabad's Gymkhana cricket ground on September 25. On Thursday, chaos broke out at the venue's ticket booking counter, where offline ticket sales have commenced.
Reports say that the security personnel deployed to control the crowds resorted to lathi-charging to control the surging crowds. As soon as the ticket counter was opened, hundreds of people who had been waiting at the venue in ques for many hours rushed like anything, resulting in a stampede-like situation.
The policemen deployed there beat up scores of crowds to control the situation. As per a news report, many of them fell unconscious. They have since been admitted to a nearby hospital.
As many as two dozen individuals were injured. About half a dozen of them were injured somewhat moderately and have been taken to the Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Cricket Association is facing criticism for not throwing tickets across all categories for sale. The offline sale has also come in for criticism, as the mode is susceptible to misuse.
Meanwhile, PayTM has opened an online sale of tickets.
