IT Raids in Saravana Stores and popular Supermarkets!

The Income Tax department has been conducting raids in 74 places in the state today. The raids are being conducted in Real estate and Super market establishments all over the state. From morning, the raids have been conducted in Chennai's popular shopping center Saravana Stores.
Of the 74 places that are being raided, 72 are located in Chennai, and two are located in Coimbatore. The income tax department has been conducting raids in properties belonging to G Square, Lotus groups real estates and Saravana Stores, besides Revathy groups establishments like Revathy furniture and Supermarket. It has been said that following complaints that these firms are not furnishing details on their sales, and are involved in tax evasion, these sudden raids are being conducted.
These raids are conducted by a team of nearly 360 Income tax department officials, supported by police department. In Chennai, more than 350 income tax officials are conducting raids, and in Coimbatore 10 officials are posted for the raids. It must be noted that, weeks back the Income Tax department had conducted raids in Saravana Bhavan chain of restaurants.
