In the right direction

When Lawrence Raghavendra got the opportunity to direct Mass with Nagarjuna in the lead, many thought he was plain lucky. The skeptics had some strong words to say about his (then) unproven direction skills.
But when Mass became a commercial hit, the critics claimed that it was Nags hold on the box office that ensured the films success. So when Lawrence started Style, the detractors were still at work.
But now that Style has released and is confirmed as a hit, the carping critics have suddenly gone silent. And it is Lawrence Raghavendra who is having the last laugh.
Style, with its well-etched commercial ingredients, has shown that Lawrence sure has got what it takes to be a smart director.
What he makes may not be highbrow entertainment. But he certainly understands what works at the box office. Two out of two is not a bad record, says a leading film critic.
Style, with wonderfully choreographed dances (both Lawrence and Prabhu Deva being phenomenal) and typical sentiments and rich action, has been a certified winner among the Sankranthi winners.
It is obvious that Lawrence is taking the right steps.
