This is one of the rare weekends approaching when there is not even a single notable film hitting the screens. While in regular weeks one sees three, four and at times even five or six films clashing with each other, it is surprising that not a single film thought of making best of an open weekend. Agreed that 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Dilwale' are arriving next Friday, which means all screens would be practically taken up by them.

However, for so many films out there, the most business expected could be in just a one week time span. However, strange are the ways where filmmakers think it is better to clash in a crowd than arrive solo on open days and actually gain some respectful collections.

This means that while 'Hate Story 3' would continue well into the second week, Imtiaz Ali's 'Tamasha' would have another shot at finding footfalls from its target audience. The niche film has been collecting in select screens which are more up-market in nature, and in that perspective it should continue to find footfalls there. As predicted even before the release, this was never set to be a 100 crore affair and those expecting Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani encore just due to the presence of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were clearly cut off from the ground reality.

For a film which is primarily overseas friendly (where it has done well) and was always looking at collections in the whereabouts of 70 crore (as has been the case with similar genre/setting films like Dil Dhadakne Do or Rockstar), Tamasha would do well to pick up whatever additional moolah (over and above its 65 crore total) it can in the week to follow.
