Imtiaz Ali has a very distinguished and recognizable style of filmmaking. His films usually follow a theme where the characters learn to celebrate and enjoys life. Although his last couple projects failed to achieve the box office success but his dedicated fanbase still his work. Several mainstream stars are eager to have the experience of working on an Imtiaz Ali film. Recent reports suggest that he might collaborate with Ranbir Kapoor for his next project.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, "There are two films that Imtiaz is currently working on simultaneously. One is a biopic on controversial musician Amar Singh Chamkila's life and the other is a social film that tackles the idea of suicide. Imtiaz had taken the two films to Ranbir and he seemed to have loved one of them. In fact, he has also verbally agreed to be part of the film which is currently under pre-production. The team plans to lock modalities only once the script is ready and Ranbir okays it."

This would be Ranbir and Ali's third team up after 'Rockstar' and 'Tamasha'. Although both the films sort of tanked at the box office but 'Rockstar' was an important film in their careers and 'Tamasha' was an entertainer as well.
