Imran Khan contracts coronavirus days after first dose of vaccine

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19 two days after he received the first jab of the vaccine.

Going into details, the Pakistan government on Saturday afternoon said that Khan was not fully vaccinated when he contracted the virus. He only got the 1st dose and merely 2 days ago. It is too soon for any vaccine to become effective. Anti-bodies develop 2-3 weeks after the 2nd dose of 2-dose COVID vaccines, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Khan had received the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine shot. Khan has isolated himself at home. He has been kept under observation.

The leader of a national contracting the virus two days after taking the first shot might result in many recipients of vaccine understanding the need to practise social distancing and wearing masks even after taking the vaccine.
