Union Home Minister Amit Shah today assured the Lok Sabha that the imprisoned political leaders in the Kashmir valley will be released as and when the situation is ripe. He said that the situation is normal in the Valley months after the removal of Article 370. Saying that Farooq Abdullah's father, Sheik, was jailed by the Congress party for 11 years, Shah said that the NDA government won't behave like that.
"The Congress party had predicted bloodshed in the Valley. However, not one bullet was fired," Shah said.
Citing some data, the HM said, "About 99.5% of the students appeared for exams recently. However, for the Congress party, this is not normalcy. About 7 lakh availed OPD services in Srinagar. Curfews and Section 144 have been lifted. If political activity is the only parameter of normalcy, what about local body polls that were held?"
